I have a passion – a compassion driven by both emotion and faith – for making jewelry. Whether I use vintage or contemporary, quiet or “stand out” beads, I enjoy creating beautiful, timeless patterns for women to treasure.
From 2004 to 2009 I sold my Casual Elegance jewelry at juried craft shows and stores in three states. When the economy slowed and the company that my husband, Michael, works for started having multiple lay-offs per year we decided to refocus our attention to making large specialty cookies which we sold at churches, businesses and at juried craft shows. Life changed in 2010 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer and at the same time my husband was off on medical leave due to an injured shoulder. Since we were struggling financially we decided it was best not to invest in beads or in baking supplies. We thank the good Lord we are both well now and that the economy has improved.
Easter 2012 my friend, Farrar, liked the bracelet I made for her baptism celebration so much she encouraged me to return to designing jewelry. She helped me start an online business. Although I was focusing my efforts in another direction I believe the Lord redirected my path. The next year www.rejoicejewelry.com was created by talented Kris Cotterman of Exodus Designs.
Our lives have drastically changed since May 10, 2013 when I came home from a Bible study and found my beloved healthy husband, Michael, on the floor unconscious. He had a bilateral stroke and required 11 days of hospitalization. I thank the Lord my husband is with me because many people do not survive this kind of stroke. At this time he is not able to work or drive.
Praise God! Michael is doing so much better! Although his work days are over, Michael enjoys trying new recipes and helping create our Rejoice! Jewelry Designs!
